Triple Triad is FF8 card game. This is a mini-game that is different from the regular card games you play in real life such as Magic the Gathering or the now famous Pokemon. Throughout the course of the game, you collect special cards based on the minor enemies, Bosses, Guardian Forces and major characters from Final Fantasy 8. With your deck, you can chanllenge almost anyone with this game of cards. Using the Card Mod ability, you can refine the cards you have won into valuable and rear items.

How Do I Play?

You will need a good starting deck, and you can get one from a person in Balamb Garden at the start of the game. These are not the best of cards , but they are great to start with. Challenging people to a card game is easy. Approach a person in a normal fashion and press the button. If the person is a card player, they will acept the challenge. And if they don't they will go on with there busniess. If you have been given an assignment, it is best to wait to play the card game on free time. The Gardern look down on the seeD's that goof off while on assignment. There's no such thing as too many of one card. If nothing else, use the card Mod ability to turn your extras into itmes and sell them for gil.

Basic Strategy

The biggest challenge Triple Triad presents is the always changing set of rules. Sometimes it seems to put your best card in play, but then again putting some lower level cards in play can help.

When rules are basic (Same, Open, Sudden Death, and Elemental) all you need are strong cards to win. But if there is more adavance rules (plus, Same Wall, and Random) are in effect, it is best to baxk off a bit and try to win theg ame through strategy than force, or how powerfull your card is. Always try to play defensively. There's no reason to take each card your opponent plays. Play a waiting game with your opponent and plan ahead. Let your opponent trap themself own cards, and then froce certain moves by placing your cards strategically.

Corners typically offer te best defense, while te centers spot is the worst. In some cases you may find it benfiting to play a card in the center at the start of the match to limit your opponets options. Try not to spread random rule, and although Open may seem like the best rule in the game, you opponent gains as much of the adavantage you do.

Must complete the Alien Encounter Side Quest by giving the Alien 5 elixirs. If the Alien is killed. You can't get the card.

Must take part in the Queen of Cards Quest. A male student, who sitting on a bench outside the library has this card.

Must win from Watts of the Forest Owl's resistance group. Can do so in the Forest Owl's train (disc 1) or later on at White SeeD ship (disc 3)

Must take part in the CC Group Side Quest. The CC Group's king has this Card.

Challenge the under classman jogging around the hall.

Must visit each Chocobo Forest and solves the puzzles. Then go to the Chocobo Sanctuary  to recieve this card. (this is part of a side quest.)

Challenge Mayor Dobe in Fisherman Horizon. Try to get his card when you first arrive at FH.

Recieve from Zone of the Forest resistance group. He's on the White SeeD's Ship ( Disc 3). Must have the "Girls Next Door" magazine (found at Timber Maniacs in Timber) in your inventory before Zone will give up this card. You must give Zone the magazine for free.

Defeat the Fire Cavern's Boss Ifrit.

Visit the pub in Dollet, and challenge the pubs manger on the second floor. Once defeat him, he will take you back to a room, where you can challenge him again and win the Siren Card nomrally

Defeat the Brothers in the Tomb of the Unknown King.

Take part in the CC group side quest. Heart a CC group has this card.

Cid wil lgive you a magical lamp before you leave on your first mission. Use it to challenge the Gf Diablos, defeat him and car is yours

Take part in the CC group Side Quest, Joker is a member, must defeat him

Take part in the Centra Ruins Side Quest and defeat the GF Odin.

Chanllege the hotel owner who's standing in the street outside the hotel. Must wait until Galbadia invasion is over thou.

While at Galbadia Garden a second time (disc 2) chanllege the Cerberus in the central hall and defeat  to get card.

Challegen Piet, the head of Technicain at lunar base (disc3). Also you can challenge him later on in Disc3 by finding the escape pod crash site south of tears point.

Must take part in the Queen of cards Side Quest. The Presidental Aide inside the Presidential Palace has this card. The aide is in the room you first visit during your initail visit to Esthar.

Locate the deep sea Reserach  Center in the southwest corner of the world Map. Go there using the Ragnarok and challenge the Gf bhamut. Defeat him to wuin the card.

Must take part in the Queens of Cards side quest. The pub owner will have this card in your  deck once the necessary requirements.

Defeat Bahamut at the Deep Sea Research Center and go into the facility lower levels to solve the steam puzzle. you must Defeat Ultima Weapon who has the Gf Eden to get the card.

Challenge Dr. Odine to a game of cards (disc3)

Not available until you have completed a portion of the Queem of Cards Side Quest. A man dressed in black who stands across the street from the shops in Deling City shopping district, has this card.

Ellone has this card. Must get this card while on the Lunar Base. If not you must get it on Disc 4 from the Card Queen.

Selphie's friend near the gargoyle statue has this card. Challenge her after your first visit to Trabia Garden to get this Card.

CAn win this one from any of the Trepies in balamb Garden. The Trepies are : two girls in the second floor classroom. and the day dreaming guy on the Cafeteria

Must complete the proper potion of the Queens Cards Side Quest. Flo, Mayor Dobe's wife has the card. Challenge her in the Mayors House.

Visit Zell's mother in the Balamb with Zell in your party. Challenge Zell's mother to get this card.

Rinoa's Father, General Caraway , has this card, but doesn't use it. to make him use it lose your Ifrit Card to him and then win the Riona Card from him. You can get the Ifrit back from Martine in Fishermans Horizon.

the evil sorceress carries her own card. Challenge her at home to get this card (disc3)

Challenge Cid (disc1) before your first mission or on disc3 at Edea's house.

Laguna has squall's card. You can win it from him at the end of disc3 while at esthar or once everyone os on board the Ragnarok.
