A new feature for Final Fantasy is   reading magazines. There are different  types,  the monthly weapon magazine that shows you what you need for each weapon upgrade. The Timber magazines give you a history of  Galbadia, and Pet magazines and comics provide information on special moves.

You can buy all of the magazines from Esthar.

You'll find these lying around providing monthly information on a new weapon upgrade for each character. There's a picture of the weapon, and information about its strengths and weaknesses.

Fighter Comic 003 Head for the Library after finishing the Balamb Town section, with Zell in your party. Talk to the girl with the ponytail and you find out that Zell is in love with her! Next return back to Balamb Town and head for Zell's house and you will find she has visited. Now head for the Balamb Hotel and pay 100 gil.
